Obituary for Shirley Anne Edwards Hadysh (Edwards)

Edwards-Hadysh, Shirley-Anne
Surrounded by strength and love, Shirley Anne Edwards-Hadysh courageously and peacefully passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015. Shirley was a devoted and loving wife to Mark Hadysh and supportive Aunt to Marc, Frank, Susan, Michelle, Beth & Kelly, Darryl & Christine, Lori and Wendi; all whom she treasured and adored. She was predeceased by her parents Murray and Betty Edwards. Shirley worked as an executive assistant at McMaster Hospital for the Chair of Dept of Surgery. A truly beautiful soul, Shirley lived with an immense amount of passion and purpose. This along with her ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary was reflected in all aspects of her life. Shirley’s deep appreciation of words and language meant that she was an insatiable reader and a prolific writer. Her uncanny, dry wit, brought laughter to any situation, making her an absolute joy to be around. An avid gardener, Shirley delighted in sharing her little piece of heaven with friends and family alike. She had an especially soft spot for animals, she and Mark opened their hearts and home to many a stray kitten, all of whom meant the world to her. Shirley loved to travel and collected many long lasting friends along the way. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Saturday, June 27th from 12-1pm followed by a chapel service in the funeral home at 1pm. Donations to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph’s Health Care Cardiac and Palliative Units for their care and compassion shown to Shirley Anne during her stay.
