Condolence: Dragonboating won't be the same without our dear teammate (and my former gr.13 French teacher). I am so sad for her loss, but thankful too for the privilege of knowing her. Margaret-Anne's great joie de vivre, honesty, caring & enthusiasm blessed me and so many. She had the gift of making me and everyone, i think, feel valued. Her ready laugh, sparkling eyes and stories were inimitable. She will be hugely missed! Praying for strength, comfort and peace for dear Earl and her beloved family today and in the days ahead.

Condolence: Earl, Lianne, Kathleen and of course Gordon, I am so sorry about this very sad news. Your mother was the most amazing and funniest woman I have ever met. She sure loved a good joke and could tell a great story. You are in in my heart and prayers. I am sorry that I am out of town and will not be able to see you tomorrow as I will be in Bellville, but reach out to me for anything, anything at all. Hugs to all of you, Kathy

Condolence: Earl, Gordon, Lianne, Kathleen and families, we are deeply saddened to hear about Margaret-Anne's passing. It is with great sorrow that I write these words of sympathy to all of you at this time and how sorry I am that I did not make more of an effort to visit since we last saw each other a number of years ago. I am so grateful, beyond words for the love and kindness that all of you showed to us when we first met through Knot-a-Breast after our own Michelle became part of the team back in 2003. In the face of our struggles, Margaret-Anne gave us laughter; gave us optimism; gave us hope for riding through the storms of uncertainty and pain that came as we tried to navigate through all of what was unfolding before us. And after Michelle passed in 2004 all of you continued to welcome us into your family with dinners at your house and boatrides across Hamilton Harbour, that didn't quite go as we had planned, and with so many other things that go beyond words. I know that in all of our experiences with you, Michelle, Larissa, Rebekah, and I felt the warmth, care and love that Margaret-Anne brought into this world and that we will all miss her dearly. I pray that all of you will find comfort in your loving memories of her at this most difficult time and that you will also be lifted up by the kind words of the people who will come to share their heartfelt stories of her. May her continued blessings to you be the wind that carries you forward as you love and remember her always. Sincerely, Paul Doughty and family.

Condolence: Boom Boom Burjaw was legendary at Nelson HS Burlington. She was Mrs. Cranfield when I got her for French...oh how she could light a fire under us! Little did I know some 30 years later we would reunite on the Hamilton waterfront while I was doing a story for CHCH on the Knot a Breast Dragon Boat team. A woman came flying down the hill declaring she was going to join that team! Mrs. Cranfield???? What a grand few years returning to cover that story as Mrs. Cranfield lit loving fires under her incredible team mates and Earl drove me and my camera operator around in the chase boat capturing magical moments and stories on video. Margaret-Anne gave me a spaghetti server with a playful dragon on it. I will always treasure it. My deepest sympathy to Earl and the family. Much love, Connie Smith

Condolence: My husband Dennis and I offer the family our heart felt wishes that the grief you share at this time turns into loving memories of Margaret-Anne. We came to know her through the KAB dragon boat team and spent many hours with her on the water. She was strong and mighty. We were privileged to coach and steer for her. Alex & Dennis
