Timler, Halina Michalina (nee Olszewska)

Born in Tarno’w, Poland April 17, 1919 and died in Hamilton, Canada April 1, 2019. Dear daughter of the late Franciszek and Helena Olszewski (nee Klostermeyer) and her sister the late Staszka Podlejska. Granddaughter of Michael Olszewski, who was a member of parliament between 1900 to 1910 of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Beloved and only wife of the late Jerzy Jan Timler, a WW2 officer and RAF bomber pilot and post-war steel worker. Loving mother of five children, Krystyna, Zbigniew, Stanley (Mary McIIwain), Peter (Mary Vasilyadis), and Paul (Lucilia dos Santos). Dear Babcia of eleven grandchildren, Lara (Patrick Gregory), Zachary, Kyla, Abraham, Stephan (Ann Meek), Priscilla (Ignacio Gamez), Caleb, Natalie (Ryan Marcinew), Adam, Derek (Jordan Pfannenstiel), Talia (Tyler Garland). Great Babcia of two great grandchildren, Mila Gamez and Titan Garland and two future great grandchildren. Aunt of two nieces, Ela Podlejska, and Halina Podlejska and one nephew, Wieslaw Podlejski. Preceded in death by her daughter Krystyna, son Paul and daughter-in-law Mary. Halina was a recipient of Republic of Poland “Cross of Deportees to Siberia” for Polish patriots arrested and deported to Soviet Union’s concentration camps in Siberia from 1939-1953. First Lieutenant, Royal Air Force, 403 Bomber Squadron from 1942-1945. Her greatest duties were as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was active in community service organizations such as Catholic Women’s League, Polish Air Force Veterans Association of Hamilton, and the Canadian Hearing Society of Hamilton. Visitation will be held at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Friday, April 5th from 7-9pm and Saturday, April 6th from 8:30-10am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Stanislaus RC Polish Church on Saturday, April 6th at 10:30am. Burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
