Obituary for Adrienne Patterson

Patterson, Adrienne “Nanny”
June 11, 1941 – August 6, 2021

It is with great sadness that we share in the passing of our beloved Mother Adrienne Patterson. On August 6, 2021 under Palliative care at St. Peter’s Hospital Hamilton, she passed away with stage four cancer. She was born on June 11, 1941 in Manchester, England and came to reside in Canada in 1951 at the age of ten. She was a kind, spiritual and giving person, who highly enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Our Mother was a long-time employee of Sears Canada, who took great pride in her work. She was always thankful for her many blessings in life, especially the love of her family. She believed “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to just love and be loved in return.” She was at peace and not suffering in any pain, however, she was ready to be reunited with her past loved ones, including her two sons Glenn Patterson (Feb 13, 2015) and Sean Massicotte (March 4, 2020). She is survived by her remaining children Cindy (Frank Guardanapo), Bruce Patterson, and Wendy Jensen, as well as her Grandchildren, Tom Guardanapo (Cathie), Christina (Milton Pavao), Mason and Dylan Patterson and Cody Jensen and her Great Grandchildren Emily and Ethan Pavao and Vienna and Logan Guardanapo. She was loved and will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends. Her wishes were to be cremated with no service to be held.

Don’t cry for me now, I’m free. I’m following the path God laid out for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. If all my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembering joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah, perhaps my time seemed all to brief. Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief, Light up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, he set me free.

She will remain forever in our hearts; may she rest in eternal peace.
