Obituary for Agnes Nancy Wilson Gribben (Buchanan)

Gribben, Agnes "Nancy"

It is with great sorrow and much sadness in our hearts that we share the sudden passing of our Beloved Mother Nancy Gribben at St Peters hospital in Hamilton on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Predeceased by her parents Isobel and Raymond Buchanan of Goven, Scotland. Survived by Daughters; Lindsay Gribben (Mark) and Danielle Gribben- Chambers (Courtney) and Grandchildren; Nicolle McDonnell (Marty), Ashley Plomish (Brandon), Matthew Clappison (Jess), Brendan Clappison (Katarina) and Devayne Gribben, and Great-Grandchildren; Paisley McDonnell and Violet Clappison.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland April 11, 1947 Nancy immigrated to Canada in 1968. Soon after arriving in Canada, Nancy as a single mother of two daughters, she was so proud to achieve both her accounting and bookkeeping credentials. Nancy went on to have a long career with McMaster University in the Titles Bookstore Accounting Dept. until her retirement. Lovingly remembered as an avid reader and never without a book, AKA the National Enquirer. Nancy always looked forward to meet-ups with "the girls" for their coffee club. Her grandchildren have fond memories of their sleepovers for scary movies and of course she would always request that on our way to stop at Timmies to grab a “wee peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie and a coffee with cream and half a sugar on the side”.

Due to this sensitive nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are limited to the number of attendees that can pay their respects to our Mother within the current restrictions.

We have been searching for a lovely way everyone can honour and pay their tribute to Nancy, we kindly propose that in-lieu of flowers if you would like to make a donation for a plaque to be placed at her grave. All donations are welcomed and would be an appreciated gift that will forever be with Nancy.

A fitting tribute and celebration of Nancy’s life awaits her family and friends on the other side of the pandemic. Burial has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held for Nancy at White Chapel Memorial Gardens(1895 Main St. W.) on Monday December 14, 2020 at 11:30a.m. Due to COVID-19 regulations, you must wear a mask and RSVP your attendance at www.dermodys.com or by calling (905) 388-4141.
