Bortolotto, Arnold Anthony
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arnold Bortolotto on August 18, 2022, at the Juravinski Hospital in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Catherine (nee Gattafoni). Loving father of Colin (Trang), Chris (Meaghan Young), and Karen (Wayne). Dear Nonno of Claire, Ryan, and Breckin. Dear brother of Alba (the late Gianni), Rina (the late Nello), Maria Teresa (Gianni), the late Giullio (Gina), the late Norma (Dino), the late Aurora (Nino), the late Linda (Elio), the late Renzo and the late Rina and Renzo (1920’s). Predeceased by his parents Angelo & Ida. Dear brother-in-law of Teresina, Frances (Albert), and Joe (the late Marion). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a proud and long-standing member of the Venetian Club of Hamilton and served as secretary and historian for many years. He was an amateur cabinet builder and was a member of St. John’s Men’s Bowling League affectionately known as “Slow Poke Arnie”. He was a Rosedale Arena hockey and ringette dad, who was an excellent trumpet and harmonica player. He had a “streetlight” (get in the house) whistle that was legendary in the Rosedale area. Fluent in English, Italian, Venetian dialect and Latin. He was an award-winning Venetian dialect prose and poetry writer and was a published author of Venetian history. He was also a NCIS addict.
Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King Street East, on Sunday, August 21st from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday, August 22nd at 10am. Cremation to follow. Online condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com
