Obituary for Doreen Agnes Turcotte

Turcotte, Doreen

On Tuesday April 18 2023, our mother Doreen got her angels wings and a shiny halo she wore at a jaunty angle and joined those who went before her. She was the much-loved wife of Ralph Turcotte who journeyed ahead to prepare and welcome her to eternal life. Doreen was the daughter of Adrien and Jean Emery. She is survived by her brother Ron (Adéline). She is predeceased by her brothers Russ, Leo and Don and her sister Verna. Doreen was a feisty and dedicated Mother to Michael, Denise(Judy), Cathy, Theresa(Mario), Patrick(Lynda),Joe (Caroline) and Louise (Gord). She and our father worked hard and sacrificed much to provide guidance and give opportunity to their children. She leaves the legacy of 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mom was the Secretary at St Joseph’s Church, Hamilton, for many years.
In her last year’s dementia robbed her of her words and the ability to communicate. She loved a good gab session so this must have been torture for her. She went into LTC at Queens Garden 7 years ago. She was loved and cared for by the most wonderful team of caregivers, in particular the PSW’s in Jamesville where Mom lived. When she lost the ability to speak she would recognize their voices and sit right up and smile and laugh. She truly loved and appreciated all of you, as did her family. Our gratitude cannot be overstated. All of you are simply amazing, some simply spectacular. The work you do is vital. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 7 East Ave. S. (between King and Main) on Wednesday April 26, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 Herkimer St. on Thursday April 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Doreen would say in lieu of flowers, please have a good gabfest with someone and rejoice in your voice
