Obituary for Elsie Clarice Lamanes (Hudacek)

Elsie Lamanes passed away peacefully at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton on Friday, November 18th, 2022 in her 93rd year. Elsie will be forever reunited with her late husband George. Lovingly remembered by her children Arlene (Angelo, predeceased), Donald (Susan) and Larry (Anne). Devoted Grams of John (Lori), Steven (Alexandra), Lisa (Michael), Kristine (Jay), Daniel (Nadia), Kristoffer (Jillian), David (Sarah), Hannah and Lukas. Proud great-grandmother of Kevin, Megan, Logan, Charlie, Memphis, Matteo and Oliver. Elsie also leaves behind her siblings Evelyn, Ed and Irene, and joins her siblings who predeceased her, Emily, Bob and Frank. She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Elsie was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan on October 25, 1930, and was a very proud resident. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Eugene’s Parish, who was actively involved in the Catholic Women’s League, and loved to help out by baking and cooking for church fundraisers. Elsie will be fondly remembered for her love of God, her cooking ability, especially her amazing cabbage rolls and pierogies, and as a talented seamstress. A special thank you to the staff at Macassa Lodge E2 wing, for their dedicated care and support.

Visitation will be held at PX DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (1919 King St. E, Hamilton) on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Eugene’s Parish (232 Queenston Rd, Hamilton) on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. If desired, donations made in Elsie’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
