Obituary for Glorice Joseph Gallant

Gallant, Glorice

Peacefully passed away on February 9, 2021, at the age of 83 in Hamilton, ON. Glorice was born December 15th, 1937, and raised in Cape Egmont, Prince Edward Island. He moved to Ontario for work but spent his vacation time on the island. On New Year's Eve 1970, he met his beautiful wife Margaret (nee Arsenault) on a blind date in Mont Carmel, PEI. They married on October 27th, 1973, and spent the next 47 years creating lasting memories together in both Ontario and Prince Edward Island.

For 31 years, he was a proud employee of the Government of Canada. He started working on a ship called the Hudson in Nova Scotia and got to see part of the world. He transferred to the Limnos at Canada Centre for Inland Waters.

Glorice had a smile and laugh that was contagious. He was known as a man who always put his family first and worked hard to provide for them. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and was happy when they were around. He was loyal and selfless, always willing to help those who asked. He spent time helping at his church, Incarnation of our Blessed Lord, from changing lights and painting, to being an usher at Sunday mass. Glorice was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Glorice will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Margaret, and their children Janice (Roger) and Kevin (Jennifer). Glorice was the proud papa to Nathan (Melissa) and Jacob (Haley), proud pépé to Jérome. He was also a new great-grandpa to Liam. Glorice is survived by siblings Exina (Oxybé), Dorina (Lionel) and Florence (Leonce), and many nieces and nephews. Glorice is predeceased by his parents Albenie and Alina, siblings Archie (Geralda), Denise (Antoine), Wilfred (Leonne), Leo, and baby Dorina. Glorice will also be missed by the Arsenault family.

We would like to say thank you to the doctors and nurses from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, and VON. A special thank you to Fr. Charlie Galea for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to the family and friends who were also there to support Glorice during his short battle with cancer. Your time, thoughts, and prayers did not go unnoticed.

Cremation has taken place, and private prayer will be had by his family in Ontario. Interment to follow in Prince Edward Island at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Food for Children would be greatly appreciated by the family.
