Obituary for Lorne Winther

Winther, Lorne Richard
January 16, 1961 – November 29, 2022

It is with immeasurable sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Lorne at his home in Winona at the age of 61. He will be forever remembered for his infectious personality, his positive outlook and immense passion and zest for life.

He leaves behind his mother Jacqueline (TJ predeceased), brother Alan (Annette), step siblings Janine, Mark and Anna, daughters Sarah (Casey), Jen (Jake), Mary (Michael), niece Jacqui (Johndavid) and former spouse and dear friend Joyce. He was the proud grandpa of Nora and Emily. Predeceased by his father Arvid and step sister Angela. Lorne instantly befriended anyone who had the pleasure of crossing his path, and will be immensely missed by his numerous lifelong friends, colleagues, bandmates and extended family.

Lorne was a dedicated and determined entrepreneur who fearlessly blazed his own trail. He had a passion for spreading joy to others through his love of music as the front man for multiple bands over the last 20 years. He never let his circumstances hold him back and truly lived life to the absolute fullest. His love of travelling will leave an impact on the lives of those he touched from coast to coast. He recently fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams of learning to ride a motorcycle at the tender age of 60, elevating his love of travel and road trips to a new level of freedom. His ability to provide steadfast support and comfort to the people he cared about, with his unwavering friendship, will leave a void in the lives of those he loved. We know that Lorne is forever reunited with his beloved dogs Sawyer and Scarlett, playing fetch and looking down over all of us. His memory will live eternally in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held at PX Dermody Funeral Home (796 Upper Gage Ave. Hamilton) on Sunday, December 4th, 2022 from 2-4pm & 6-9pm. Funeral service to take place in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 5th, 2022 at 11am followed by interment at Mountview Gardens Cemetery.

If desired, donations in Lorne’s memory can be made to the Arthritis Society.
