Marcella Fontaine

Peacefully, surrounded by her family at Juravinski Hospital, on November 8th 2023, at the age of 84, made her transition into Heaven. Beloved wife of the late Belthazar. Loving mother of Franklin (Rachel) and Marsha. Cherished Granny of Kerwin, Nikessa, Ryckardo and Kaileez. Survived by her brothers Herbert and Avandale. Sister to the late Flora, Atlee and Edward. Treasured by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will forever be remembered by her best friend and chosen sister Ruth and many other close family and friends. Marcella was a longtime, proud and dedicated member of the Commonwealth of Dominica Association Hamilton Chapter (CODAH).She was also a passionate Healthcare Specialist at St. Joseph’s Hospital with 35 years of service. Marcella impacted many lives and was seen as a mother and grandmother figure to all. She was a proud recipient of the “Mother of the Year” award which is a testament to her love, kindness and compassion for everyone she encountered. Thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff who provided wonderful compassion and care. Also, to all the family and friends who gave their love and support throughout her life’s journey especially in her last few days.

Friends will be received at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Thursday November 16th 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 620 Rymal Rd. East (Rymal and Upper Sherman) on Friday November 17th 2023 at 10 a.m. The funeral can be livestreamed at Cremation to follow. Reception details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donation to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
