It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved mother Margaret on February 22, 2021, at the Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by her family at the age of 83 years. Loving wife of the late Philip Shields (1999) and Harry McEwen (2015). Cherished and loved mother of Anna Marie Pettipas (Todd), Michael Shields (Kimberly), Rosalyn Tyleman (Colin), and James Glen (Deanna). Proud and loving grandmother to Philip and Sionha. Also survived by her brother-in-law Peter Morrison and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends in Canada and Scotland. Margaret was predeceased by her parents William and Anne Dobbin and siblings Elizabeth, John, Mary, William, Nancy, James and Michael. Margaret was born in Bellshill, Scotland on July 26, 1937, and came to Canada with her family in 1965. She
was a long time member of the Legion Branch 58 and played darts with the Stoney Creek Legion with friends. She was a member of several choirs singing with Mohawk College, St. Eugene's Parish, as well as Holy Family Church. She studied Art at Mohawk College and was lovingly remembered for being a self-made seamstress. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the Emergency and ICU South at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion showed to our mother. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King Street East on Friday, February 26th from 4-8 pm. Prayers will be said at 4pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Eugene's Parish on Saturday, February 27th at 9 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all in attendance must RSVP on the funeral home website or by calling 905-388-4141. All in attendance must wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com
