Obituary for Moira Boyd (Boyd)

Boyd, Moira Frances

Passed away at home in Hamilton on May 11, 2023 on her 67th birthday. Survived by her loving partner, Raymond Stewart, and siblings Robert Boyd and Mary Boyd of Nanaimo and Maureen Hall (David Hall) of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents Earl & Joyce Boyd of Hamilton.

Moira had an energy and zest for life exhibited in her gift of the gab, her readiness to laugh, her talent for Irish dancing and her passion for food & cooking. “Christmas Baking” with her was a highlight for over 35 years. She loved her family, especially regaling the younger ones with family stories. She had a prodigious memory (mostly accurate) and laughingly remembered to the end her hatred of the Pixie haircut she got when she was 7. Her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and Christmas bakers were never in doubt that Aunt Moira loved them to pieces.

Moira worked at the Toronto Public Library where a high point was meeting Robert Munsch, and she voraciously read fiction and non-fiction. She loved to play games, especially word games and cards. Her health was challenging over the last year and we are happy she is now at peace. The family will be remembering her life privately. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to organizations supporting literacy or children.
