Obituary for Msgr. Paul Anthony Boucher

BOUCHER, Rev. Msgr. Paul Anthony
Peacefully, at St. Joseph’s Villa, on Saturday, May 22, 2021, Monsignor Paul Boucher, in his 59th year of ordination and 85th year of life. Dear brother of Robert Boucher and his wife Barbara. Cherished uncle to Michael (Karen), Patricia (Asif Patel) and Christina (Jamie Ruiz). Great-uncle to Callum, Rhyan, Elliot, Payton, Aliya, Ava, William and Chloe. Pre-deceased by his parents Mary and Harold Boucher. Growing up he was very close to his cousins and the Bomford family. Monsignor Boucher was ordained a Priest on June 2, 1962. He taught and coached basketball for twelve years at St. Pius X High School in Ottawa, and Bishop Ryan High School, Hamilton. During this time Msgr. Boucher was an assistant Pastor at Sacred Heart, Holy Family and Corpus Christi parishes in Hamilton. In March 1976, Msgr. Boucher was appointed as Pastor of Holy Rosary Parish, Milton, then St Dominic Parish, Oakville, St. Mary in Brantford, then was founding Pastor at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Burlington. His final appointment was to St. John the Baptist Parish, Hamilton where he retired then lived in residence at St Margaret Mary Parish, then to St John Vianney Residence at St Joseph’s Villa. During his priesthood Monsignor Boucher was associated with the Retrouvaille Community (Ministering to couples who experienced challenges in their relationship) in Toronto and Hamilton since 1983. An avid golfer and skier, he was also a lifelong fan and season ticketholder of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Monsignor Boucher had a strong connection of love to his family and friends who will miss him dearly. A special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Oak Grove Community at St. Joseph’s Villa along with Alyssa and Taylor. The family would also like to thank Lori Carey of St Joseph’s Villa, and especially Monsignor’s dear friend and ski buddy, Fr. Ted Slaman, for the care and support they gave not only Monsignor, but to the family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, King St. East at London St. S. Then on Wednesday, May 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Rd., Burlington, ON. A private family Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul the Apostle Church on Thursday, May 27, at 11 a.m. (Those wishing to view the Mass online may do so through the Funeral Home website at www.dermodys.com).
