Obituary for Rev. Msgr. Raymond Nicholas Modeski

After a lengthy illness, it is with sadness that we share the loss of our brother, uncle, friend and spiritual leader, Reverend Monsignor Raymond Nicholas Modeski. Predeceased by his parents Victoria and Nicholas Modeski. He was brother to Lorraine, Patrick, and Faith, dear friend to Patty Alexander, and Reverend Monsignor Earl Talbot. Monsignor Ray loved life. He brought and shared laughter to everyone that he surrounded himself with and those that loved to surround him. He adored and was adored by his nieces, nephews and everyone’s heart that he touched. Monsignor Ray loved his golf game, and made an annual pilgrimage to Florida in order to enjoy the sport. He spent fifty years in pastoral work, of which he was passionate and unparalleled. Ray was an inspiration to his parishioners through his endless acts of faith, work and devotion. He delivered his homilies with passion, insight and often with a modicum of humour. Monsignor Ray served as rector at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Hamilton, pastor at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Ancaster and pastor at St Patrick’s Church in Burlington. He was a true spiritual leader of faith.
Monsignor Ray was loved and will be missed by everyone whose soul he touched.
Visitation will occur at St. Patrick’s Church 196 Kenwood Ave. Burlington, on Sunday, December 18, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with Vigil Service for the deceased at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, 714 King St. W., Hamilton on Monday, December 19th at 11 a.m. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to St. Joseph Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family. www.dermodys.com.
