Loving mother of Rocco Bonaventura (Rosanna), and Loretta Chawla(Amandeep). Cherished Nonna of Michael, David, Arthur, and Adorah. Dear sister of the late Luisa(the late Giovanni), Renza(Julio), Marisa(Pasquale), Bruna(Renzo), and Sabatino. Predeceased by her parents Domenico and Angela Manganiello and her parents-in-law the late Rocco and Ersilia Bonaventura and the late Loreto and Emilia Cassiani. She will be greatly missed by her best friends Elda and Pina. She is survived by her two special aunts, Tommasina and Luigia and many family, friends, nieces, and nephews in Canada and Italy. Rita was retired from the HWCDSB after 35 years of service. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Parish and had a passion for cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking with them, taking them to the park, going on long walks and making countless memories with them. She will always be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and caregiving. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Neuroscience Unit 7W at the Hamilton General Hospital, the excellent nursing staff at Bayshore, our amazing PSW’s, Marisa for her dental care, the wonderful staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, and Fr. Gregory Merkley for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (Between Mohawk and Fennell) on Wednesday March 8, 2023 from 4-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave. on Thursday March 9, 2023 at 10am. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or the McMaster Children’s Hospital.
