Obituary for Sheilagh Drury

Sheilagh Drury passed away at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton on May 1st, 2022, at the age of 59. She will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Anne Drury and Allison Durno and brother-in-law John Durno, as well as by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Sheilagh was born in Simcoe, Ontario, daughter of Barbara and D'Arcy Drury. She attended high school at Cardinal Newman in Hamilton, and then went on to the University of Waterloo where her focus of study was Recreation Leadership and later Fine Arts. She also studied Graphic Design at George Brown College. Her interest in artistic design led to working in interior store design, window dressing, fashion and retail work, while living in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto.

Over the years Sheilagh engaged in many activities, such as dance, figure skating, gymnastics and cheerleading. She had many passions and hobbies including a particular interest in music. She enjoyed singing and playing keyboards. Sheilagh loved to paint and several of her paintings now hang on the walls of her friends and family. She enjoyed many different kinds of crafting, such as knitting, and always had a craft project on the go.

Anne and Allison would like to express special gratitude to the palliative care staff of St. Peter's Hospital who took such wonderful care of Sheilagh in her last few months. Their dedication and devotion will never be forgotten.

The Visitation for Sheilagh will be at Dermodys Funeral Home at 1919 King St. E. in Hamilton from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. Her funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church at 128 Edgemont St. S. in Hamilton on Thursday, May 5th at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Peter's Hospital Foundation.
