After a short and unexpected hospital stay, Doug passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday May 12th at the age of 53.
Doug had a kind heart and was a true child of God. He went out of his way to take care of all others; his friends, his family, and those who were in need. He was the first to be there to support others, and was always considerate of others and their experiences. He sponsored multiple children in impoverished countries, and donated frequently to local charities to support homeless and at-need people in Hamilton.
While friends and family are grieving the loss and wishing for more time, Doug has been called to live in the House of the Lord. He is at peace, and now will rest alongside his father William Markle and his sister Suzanne King where he can live his eternal life in God’s light.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his children Dani (f. Emily), Lily, Amanda and Shannon; his former wife Melissa; his grandchildren Jacob, Elijah, Troy and Eris; his mother Frances; his sister Maureen; his niece and nephews; and his many friends that have been part of his life - both old and new.
Visitation will be held at PX Dermody Funeral Home (796 Upper Gage Ave) on Friday May 19, 2023 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul (50 Brucedale Ave E) on Saturday May 20 at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary in Burlington.
