It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Mary on August 17, 2016 in her 88th year. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe. Beloved mother of David (Karen), Donald (Cara), and Brenda McNeil (Gord). A wonderful nana to 7 grandchildren – Monica (Chris), Andrew, Alex, Steven, Callum, Laura, and Brent. Great-nana to Michael. Loving aunt to Susan Ferguson. Predeceased by her father George, mother Lillian, and sisters Ethel and Marjorie. Evelyn was the last of the three Horner girls of Hope Avenue in Hamilton east end. She will be missed by extended family in Canada, the U.S.A., and U.K. Mom had been declining in health for the last few years, but her wicked sense of humour never left her, and her British stubbornness and defiance were with her to the end – she never failed to keep us entertained. Mom always had a true love for animals. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Avenue) on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A private family burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at wwww.dermodys.com
