Denton, Ruth Evelyn (nee McAlpine)
April 19, 1929 – Sept. 3, 2016
With great courage and dignity, Ruth passed away quietly at St. Peter’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. After many months of dealing with various health issues, she is finally at peace. During the past few years, she provided care and comfort for Arthur, her loving husband of 66 years. Ruth will also be deeply missed by her daughters Lynda Avolio (Ed), and Mary Francey (Ken). Grandchildren Brian Avolio and Lauren Robert (Gordon), and great granddaughters Cecilia (CC) and Ella. Predeceased by her siblings David, Crawford, Luella and many in-laws. She will also be remembered by sister-in-law Pauline, many nieces and nephews and their families, and close friends, the Fallwells and Robertsons. Ruth was a golfer, bridge player, avid reader and had a sharp sense of humour. She and Art were able to travel, vacationing in Florida and enjoying many cruises. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church; our sincere thanks to Rev Dickey and Rev Shaffer for their visitations. We want to also thank the professional and support staff of 3 West, for providing excellent care for Ruth as well as helping the family through this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Thursday, September 8th from 10am-11am. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11am. Burial to take place at a later date. Donations to Neighbour to Neighbour, Cancer Assistance Program or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family .On-line condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com
