In the 1980's, John Kubilius (or J.K. as his crew called him) was Electrical Asst. Foreman at Dofasco #2 Melt Shop. He was an excellent Supervisor and a pleasure to work under. J.K. knew first hand the sometimes difficult tasks of the job of 'Shift Electrician' , and never pressured his men to do more than what was reasonable. A real swell guy.
A considerate gesture I remember fondly about J.K. was... He would arrive at work about 6:30 AM, before the other Bosses, walk past the Electrical Lunchroom and down the hall to his Office, where he would deliberately SLAM the door loudly, ...and wait in his Office for several minutes. I'm certain this 'door slam' was a signal to the sleepy night-shift Electricians in the lunch room to 'have your eyes open' when I come in shortly to collect the Shift Report paperwork, and I won't catch anyone 'sleeping on the job'.
