Obituary for Jeanne Marie Reid (Guay)

Jeanne Marie Reid (Guay)
Jeanne Reid, daughter of the late Leo and Mary Guay passed away peacefully on Monday, in her 89th year. Her children Denise O’Connor (Ed), Bruce (Gail), John (Geraldine), Paul (Natalie) and beloved grandchildren Megan and Laura (Mike), Sarah (Ben) and Camille will miss her. Jeanne is the much-loved oldest sister of Bud Guay (late Grace), Nancy Guay, Mary D’Addario (Jim) and Sr. Carole Anne Guay and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was renowned for her love to laugh, her independence, and her baking (butter tarts and her special pizza). An avid card player, she taught many to play bridge, but only played with those who wanted to have fun. A proud retiree of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School, Jeanne served as its head secretary until her retirement (1992). Special thanks to Dr. Anna Emili, Juravinski Cancer Centre, Amica, the wonderful, caring staff at Emmanuel House, and volunteer drivers from the Canadian Cancer Society for making this past year as good as it could be. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Ave. S (between King and Main) on Thursday August 11, 216 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 440 King St. E., on Friday August 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Instead of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to Emmanuel House or the Hamilton Out of the Cold program.
