When I graduated from nursing in 1977 and started my nursing career at St Joes, Dr Carroll was the first doctor that made me smile, feel respected and welcomed me on to the "6 surgical team". I remember every wound dressing order with his trademark hygeol 1:20 dressings q4h. His patients loved him! And, on the many days where as a nurse you didn't know if you would make it through the shift- there was always Dr Carroll's kindness and smile that told you, you could do it.
